The Department of Health and Human Services has released two notices of proposed rulemaking (NPRMs) related to Stage 2 Meaningful Use.

WISHIN is rapidly advancing its plans to procure and implement a query-based HIE system this year. WISHIN issued an RFP on January 13, 2012, and received seven proposals, from which three finalists were identified. Each vendor finalist will conduct a demonstration and oral presentation to WISHIN's proposal evaluation team in early April, after which the team will make its recommendation for WISHIN Board approval.

WISHIN is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Ellinger to the WISHIN Board as the Board secretary. Ellinger succeeds Julie Bartels, former Wisconsin Health Information Organization (WHIO) Chief Executive Officer, who recently became the Executive Vice President of National Health Information at the ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value in Green Bay.

WISHIN has launched a new resource for providers called WISHIN Bridge. WISHIN Bridge provides information about qualified Health Information Service Providers (HISPs) that offer Direct secure messaging in Wisconsin. HISPs enable providers to exchange patient health information in a secure, simple, and inexpensive manner over the Internet.
